Mauricio joins the RPLG team from the Superior Court of California - County of San Francisco, where he was a court staff attorney. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Stanford University and a juris doctor degree from University of California College of the Law, San Francisco.

Steve, who joined the firm in 2019, previously worked with Founding Partners Louise Renne and Jon Holtzman—who he credits as having been his mentors throughout his career—at Renne Sloan Holtzman Sakai from 2005 to 2018. At RPLG, he primarily represents and advises public agencies on labor, employment and government law matters. He also represents the firm’s clients in affirmative, public interest litigation.

June recently retired from the City of Pleasant Hill after 17 years as city manager. Prior to that, she was city manager of the City of Martinez for five years. She has served as community development director in a wide range of cities, from Santa Ana to Laguna Beach to San Leandro.
Renne Public Law Group (RPLG) welcomes Sam Wheeler as Senior Counsel. Before joining RPLG, Sam spent more than eight years serving as a career law clerk for Magistrate Judge Joseph C. Spero of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, where he drafted orders and bench memoranda in a wide range of civil cases, as well as criminal proceedings. During Sam’s tenure, Judge Spero presided over more than 1,500 civil cases.

Prior to joining RPLG, Rubin served over 24 years in the Shasta County Counsel’s Office, where he also served as the County Counsel for the Shasta County Board of Supervisors since 2010. Prior to joining RPMG, Kelly spent over three decades working in TK-12 public education, 12 years of which were spent as the superintendent of schools for Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District. Over the course of her career, she has accrued executive leadership experience; expertise in strategic planning, resource procurement and management; and systems building for equity and sustainability in both the public and nonprofit sectors.
