Public Law Group Founding Partner Jon Holtzman will join a panel of city officials to discuss “Promoting Civility in Times of Heightened Partisanship and Polarization” at the League of California Cities 2021 City Managers Conference. The session will take place as conference participants convene for lunch via Zoom on Wednesday, Feb. 3 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The session will explore the role of city managers in navigating the heightened polarization and partisanship that have defined our national politics in recent years. Panelists will discuss the ways in which these attitudes have impacted operations at the state and local level, focusing on strategies for managing strong working relationships and communication with elected officials, administrative staff and community members to build capacity for addressing layered challenges together.
The panel is sponsored by the International County/City Managers Association (ICMA), an organization dedicated to supporting the professional development of local government leaders around the world by driving professional development and exchange. As ICMA President-Elect Troy Brown has noted, one of the organization’s current objectives is fostering civility in local communities to lay the groundwork for advancing constructive conversations and solving complex problems.
“I’m confident that this session will yield valuable insights on navigating today’s challenging political environment while continuing to deliver for local communities at a high level,” said Jon.
Registration is required for this event, with a portion of conference fees supporting the ICMA and the California City Management Foundation. Renne Public Law Group is proud to sponsor the City Managers conference to further the knowledge-sharing and collaboration that help local governments thrive.
