Renne Public Law Group (RPLG) Partner Jon Holtzman was selected in January to join the League of California Cities (LOCC) 2018 Governance, Transparency and Labor Relations Policy Committee. This appointment reflects Jon’s expertise in various subject matters as well as RPLG’s history of successfully partnering with the League.
The Governance, Transparency and Labor Relations Policy Committee reviews state legislation as it relates to transparency, technology (open data), healthcare, elections and political reform. Additionally, the committee oversees pension and workers compensation reform as well as other labor-related issues.
“Local government is under fire in the state legislature, despite many services being provided by local government,” says Jon. “The League brings to policy-makers’ attention the impact of various legislative efforts and provides reasonable alternatives. Under Legislative Representative Dane Hutching’s thoughtful and aggressive leadership, the League has become a powerful force on pension and labor issues in Sacramento.”
As a Gold-level League partner, RPLG has had the opportunity to support local governments and share its expertise with California cities. Further, in February 2018, Jon prepared the LOCC Amicus Brief in Cal. Fire Local 2881 v. CalPERS (2016).
RPLG practices throughout California, advising and advocating for public agencies, nonprofit entities, individuals and private entities in need of effective, responsive and creative legal solutions.
