Renne Public Law Group (RPLG) Founding Partners Art Hartinger and Jon Holtzman will speak at the County Counsels’ Association of California (CCAC) Annual Conference in Ojai on Thursday, September 13, 2018.
Art and Jon will provide a comprehensive update on Statewide pension law. The pair will review the status of ongoing vested rights litigation, including the four pending cases in the California Supreme Court, with a focus on the so-called “California Rule.” They will also explain the most recent Ninth Circuit vested rights opinion – Harris v. County of Orange. The Harris opinion was filed just last week, on September 5, 2018.
“Harris was issued at the Ninth Circuit after oral argument over 4½ years ago,” stated Art, “and this decision is an important step toward the county’s goal of resolving the uncertainty looming over its retiree medical program.”
“We are looking forward to presenting and meeting with our county counsel colleagues,” said Jon. “During my fifteen years of public service to the City and County of San Francisco, the County Counsel sessions were always among the impressive, high level and useful.”
The session will be held from 8:45 – 10:00 a.m.
