Mariam MorleyMariam Morley, former Deputy City Attorney for the City and County of San Francisco, has joined Renne Public Law Group (RPLG) as Of Counsel.

“I have a passion for both municipal law and local government,” said Morley. “I value client relationships: talking with them about their goals and priorities and helping them to accomplish those objectives.”

During her 28-year tenure as a San Francisco Deputy City Attorney, Ms. Morley served as General Counsel to a variety of San Francisco departments, including the Police Commission, Recreation and Parks Department, Rent Stabilization Board, Public Library and Health Services System. She also represented the San Francisco Unified School District, Civil Grand Jury, Mayor’s Office on Disability, Office of Citizen Complaints and the Commission on the Status of Women. As Interim General Counsel to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, she counseled the organization through complex amendments to the San Francisco Transportation Code, including several major revisions of the City’s regulations of motor vehicles for hire.

An expert on the Americans with Disabilities Act, Ms. Morley led ADA implementation and training programs throughout the City and County of San Francisco. She coordinated advice to ensure every San Francisco program’s accessibility to individuals with disabilities and provided training on compliance with state and federal disability rights laws.

As a new member of the RPLG team, Ms. Morley will support clients by sharing her knowledge of general municipal law, including public meetings and public records, and guiding both elected officials and city employees.

“Mariam is an exciting addition to RPLG,” said Founding Partner Teresa Stricker, also a former Deputy City Attorney for the City and County of San Francisco. “She brings a wealth of experience and expertise in government municipal law.”

Ms. Morley, who clerked for the Hon. Rose Bird at the California Supreme Court, earned both her B.A. and J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.
