This conference brings together County attorneys who practice employment law to discuss recent developments in the field, hear from industry experts on best practices and actionable strategies and further their professional development to improve service to their respective communities.
Ms. Bond and Mr. Long’s presentation, “What Your Outside Litigator Wants You to Know – Employment Litigation Edition,” discussed lessons learned from a recent trial in which RPLG represented the City and County of San Francisco against whistleblower retaliation claims brought by two employees at the City’s Laguna Honda Hospital. Ms. Bond and Mr. Long obtained a complete defense verdict, but there were challenges along the way. The presentation addressed California whistleblower statutes, retaliation, the importance of affirmative defenses and tips for clients on how best to work with outside counsel.
Drawing on their significant labor and employment experience, the pair delivered their presentation, which was followed by a lively discussion focused on attendees’ questions. The presentation took place on Thursday, February 27 from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m.
“It is essential for public attorneys to remain knowledgeable about developments in labor and employment practice and prepared to handle potential issues,” said Ms. Bond. “Ian and I enjoyed sharing our insights and participating in conversations with attendees.”
