Renne Public Law Group, LLP (RPLG), named “Top Boutique Law Firm” in California by the Daily Journal, is in search of a career paralegal with a minimum of seven years of litigation experience to join our team. You will be working with well-known and respected lawyers who are advising and defending public agencies throughout California. Our office is in downtown San Francisco and this position is currently full-time remote until at minimum, Stay-at-Home orders are lifted in San Francisco. We may consider candidates located outside of the Bay Area with excellent qualifications and references for full time remote work.
Responsibilities & Duties
The litigation paralegal will assist our attorneys in preparation for trials, hearings, and other litigation matters. Candidates must be proficient in correspondence, preparation, and service of subpoenas, pleading, discovery, motions, calendaring depositions, draft summaries of depositions and productions, and interaction with experts.
The position involves client contact, and attending client meetings, court hearings and negotiations when needed via Zoom/video conferencing (during Stay-at-Home orders). You will be expected to coordinate with associate attorneys and legal assistants to prepare the necessary documents for meetings.
Qualifications & Skills
Successful candidates must have strong writing abilities, as well as strong organizational and record-keeping skills. Candidate should have completed at least two trials to verdict, be a fast thinker who is calm under pressure and has the ability to prioritize and keep track of multiple projects. Ability to compile document productions electronically and Bates stamp and serve productions electronically. Cite check briefs using Westlaw, perform online research to identify and locate facts and documents, including court records; use Relativity-based document repositories to locate and transmit documents electronically; prepare pretrial pleadings in consultation with attorneys; coordinate logistics and witnesses for trial; work with demonstrative evidence vendors to prepare trial evidence; and handle cases independently while providing advice to attorneys for best practices and future handling of case matters. Required software proficiency: Microsoft Office Suite, iManage (or similar document management software), Adobe or Nuance, PACER, court website navigation and Westlaw. Experience performing conflict checks is a plus.
