About Alex Volberding
Mr. Volberding is an attorney specializing in labor, employment and government law. He defends employers on single plaintiff and class and collective action claims, including wage and hour claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims under the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) and Title VII, as well as disability discrimination claims under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). He also advises clients on disciplinary actions as well as on their personnel policies and procedures. Mr. Volberding is active in the firm’s workplace investigation practice, having led a number of investigations to assess internal complaints as well as claims filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and California Department of Fair Housing and Employment (DFEH). He also serves on the firm’s Project Labor Agreement (PLA) team, having negotiated agreements for municipal and public agency clients throughout the state.
Mr. Volberding brings to the firm significant political and public policy experience, having served as Chief of Staff to a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and as a legislative aide to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. He has also advised elected officials, campaign committees and corporate clients on election law, campaign finance and ethics issues.
