LOCC CA Spring Conference Session ArticleRenne Public Law Group (RPLG)’s Rubin E. Cruse Jr., Ann Danforth, Jake Freitas, Art Hartinger and Jon Holtzman will represent the firm at the League of California Cities (LOCC) City Attorneys Spring Conference, May 8 to 11 in Rancho Mirage.

On Wednesday, May 8 at 1 p.m., Founding Partner Jon Holtzman and Of Counsel Rubin E. Cruse Jr. will be joined by Downey Brand Partner Kathryn Oehlschlager to present “(NOT) Burning Down the House.” The session will address state laws seeking to increase housing in relation to the competing local government policies aiming to preserve the environment and reduce the risk of fires for such housing. The panel will explain the tension between these laws, analyze case studies and suggest tools to help navigate conflicting policies.

“RPLG’s work is all about public law in the public interest,” said Jon, “We know how state and local government leaders are working to develop policy in the best interest of their communities. So from our experience in the public sector, we understand the difficult circumstances when those different levels of government face conflicting priorities. As City Attorneys look for solutions to these challenges, we look forward to weighing in on how to handle the varying concerns between state and local housing law through this important conversation.”

The City Attorneys Spring Conference provides training on cutting-edge issues in municipal law, including comprehensive updates on litigation affecting cities.
