RPLG Welcomes Maribel LopezRenne Public Law Group (RPLG) is excited to announce that Maribel Lopez has joined the team as our newest associate. She holds a B.A. from the University of California, Davis and a J.D. cum laude from the University of San Francisco (USF) School of Law. During her time at law school, Maribel served as a judicial extern for California Supreme Court Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye, was a senior staff member of the USF Law Review and was co-president of the USF La Raza Law Student Association.

Maribel joins RPLG with extensive experience in labor and employment law. Her expertise includes wrongful termination cases, harassment claims, administrative claims and complex wage-and-hour class action litigation. Prior to joining RPLG, she conducted workplace investigations, arbitrations and policy updates for various public agencies, including public transportation, fire departments and police departments.

Maribel has made significant contributions to legal thought leadership. She co-presented “Brave New World: Navigating Employment Laws in the Age of Pay Transparency & Employee Cannabis Use” at the Hanson Bridgett Annual Labor & Employment Seminar (2023) and has contributed to publications including the Labor & Employment Law Alert (2021) and the Daily Journal (2020).

After working at a larger firm, Maribel was drawn to RPLG for two main reasons. First, she was excited about the opportunity to solve legal issues for local governments. Second, she looked forward to engaging more closely with her colleagues in a smaller firm environment.

“I love that RPLG is a mission-driven firm, helping local governments to survive, succeed and innovate,” Maribel said. “I look forward to working with the team to provide litigation support that enables public entities to deliver essential services.”

“As a two-time recipient of the Wiley W. Manuel Award for completing at least 50 hours of pro bono work each year, Maribel’s dedication to serving the public good is evident,” said Founding Partner Jon Holtzman. “Her focus on community-oriented law and client relations, combined with her expertise in public sector litigation, will be a valuable addition to our Government and Litigation practice groups and will benefit the clients we serve.”

RPLG practices throughout California, advising and advocating for public agencies, nonprofit entities, individuals and private entities in need of effective, responsive and creative legal solutions.
