Renne Public Law Group (RPLG) is excited to welcome our newest associate, Mauricio Grande. Mauricio joins the RPLG team from the Superior Court of California – County of San Francisco, where he was a court staff attorney. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Stanford University and a juris doctor degree from University of California College of the Law, San Francisco.
“Completing law school during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown helped me develop focus and self-determination, demonstrating my ability to achieve results no matter the odds,” he said.
That foundational work ethic informed Mauricio’s growth under his judicial clerkship, during which, he said, he refined his strong interest in civil procedure and garnered insights into judges’ thought processes in legal decision making. Practicing his clerkship in state trial court rather than federal district court affords him a unique perspective. Mauricio believes his experience recommending decisions on pre-trial, trial and post-trial motions in civil cases for San Francisco Superior Court judges Garrett L. Wong, Cynthia M. Lee (ret.) and Samuel K. Feng will inform his RPLG casework.
“We appreciate the spirit of determination and curiosity that Mauricio is bringing to RPLG,” said Founding Partner Jon Holtzman. “His thorough knowledge of the ins and outs of civil procedure also will be an asset to our team and clients.”
What most drew Mauricio to further his career with RPLG, he said, was the firm’s emphasis on public law in the public interest. He is eager to apply his state trial court experience, which often featured cases involving municipal agencies, to RPLG’s work on behalf of local governments.
“I am motivated by a desire to deliver excellent work and answer questions about the world, which I consider to be the joy of law,” said Mauricio. “I am excited to advocate on behalf of RPLG’s clients.”
RPLG practices throughout California, advising and advocating for public agencies, nonprofit entities, individuals and private entities in need of effective, responsive and creative legal solutions.
