Renne Public Law Group (RPLG) is pleased to announce that Taylor Cole has joined the firm as a law clerk. Taylor brings a strong background in law and public policy and will support the firm’s nonprofit, investigations and government practices.

“I’m thrilled to begin my practice at a firm that allows me to use my existing skillset to the fullest and to do important work for the public’s good,” said Taylor. “RPLG’s team and philosophy of practical idealism for mission-driven work is exactly what drew me to the firm.”

Taylor recently earned her juris doctor and master’s degree in public policy through a dual program at the University of North Carolina School of Law and the Duke University Sanford School of Public Policy. During her studies, she gained practical experience through internships with the North Carolina Court of Appeals and the American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities, the nonprofit organization that operates St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She also served on the Holderness Moot Court Team, acted  as vice president of the Women in Law student group and earned Pro Bono honors for completing more than 100 hours of service with organizations including the Carolina Abortion Fund, the North Carolina  Driver’s License Restoration Project and the Name Change Clinic.

As part of her graduate program, Taylor conducted research with the Duke University athletics department on student-athlete use of name, image and likeness rights in anticipation of landmark changes from the House Settlement. She also consulted with the Southern Coalition for Social Justice on voter registration list maintenance, providing analysis to help inform the North Carolina legislature on expanding access to the polls.

Her academic background also includes a summa cum laude undergraduate degree from Iona University, where her thesis examined voter suppression following the Shelby County v. Holder decision.

“Taylor’s combination of legal training and policy expertise makes her a highly valuable addition to our team,” said Founding Partner Jon Holtzman. “Her direct experience with government agencies, nonprofits and electoral policy issues will bolster several of RPLG’s practices.”

RPLG practices throughout California, advising and advocating for public agencies and nonprofits, providing forward-thinking, responsive and creative legal solutions.
