Renne Public Law Group (RPLG) will present two sessions at the 2024 League of California Cities (LOCC) Annual Conference, October 16 to 18 in Long Beach.
From 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 16, Partner Andrew Shen will participate in a session entitled, “Understanding Public Service Ethics Laws and Principles (AB1234). This session covers the state requirement for public officials to complete two hours of ethics training every two years, with newly elected officials needing to complete it within their first year.
The following day, from 3:30 to 5 p.m., Founding Partner Jon Holtzman and Head of Government Section Amy Ackerman will lead “Hate-Bombing and Poetry Recitations: Handling Disruptive Public Comment.” This session will discuss the law as it applies to public comment and offer practical suggestions for managing disruptive public comment.
“We are excited to contribute to the League of California Cities Annual Conference by addressing these critical topics,” said Jon. “Our first session will help officials understand the requirements and principles they need to uphold integrity in their roles. The following day, we’ll tackle the challenges of disruptive public comments, using real-life examples to help attendees manage these issues in their own communities. Beyond the sessions, I look forward to connecting with friends, colleagues, and clients during the event.”
RPLG practices throughout California, advising and advocating for public agencies, nonprofit entities, individuals and private entities in need of effective, responsive and creative legal solutions.
