Jesse Lad Joins Renne Public Law Group as Senior Counsel
Renne Public Law Group welcomes Senior Counsel Jesse Lad, who will support public agencies and nonprofits throughout California, under the firm’s labor and employment practice group.
Senior Counsel Jesse Lad has more than 20 years of experience advising California public agencies and nonprofits on labor and employment matters under state and federal law. Jesse served as lead employment counsel, lead labor counsel and chief labor negotiator for cities, special districts and nonprofit organizations across the state, with a practice spanning labor relations, collective bargaining, employee discipline, employee privacy and medical leave.
Jesse takes a collaborative and pragmatic approach to even the most complex matters. He partners closely with clients to identify and manage risk, ensuring they understand their options as well as the practical consequences and legal risks associated with each potential course of action. He has built decades-long client relationships by emphasizing his clients’ needs first and bringing positive energy to stressful situations.
Jesse regularly handles sensitive administrative matters facing public agencies, including police termination cases, impasse resolution proceedings in labor negotiations and arbitrations. He has successfully represented public agency clients in trial and appellate courts and routinely appears in arbitrations and administrative hearings.
His clients have included the cities of Modesto, Napa, Newark, San Leandro, Union City and Walnut Creek, as well as Delta Diablo Sanitation, East Bay Regional Park District, Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency, Tenderloin Housing Clinic and West Valley Sanitation District. He was a key member of the team that conducted the internal affairs investigation for the Bay Area Rapid Transit District in the officer-involved shooting death of passenger Oscar Grant. He also served as the key personnel advisor to one of the primary agencies providing public safety assistance during the Asiana Airlines Flight 214 crash at San Francisco International Airport.
During law school, he interned with the National Labor Relations Board and the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. Outside of work, Jesse gives back to his community as a youth sports coach.
