Renne Public Law Group (RPLG) welcomes Associate KC Shah, who brings rigorous analytical precision and a dedicated commitment to public advocacy.
“I’m excited to begin the next stage of my career as a litigator,” said KC. “I was drawn to RPLG’s commitment to training and mentorship, as well as the opportunity to work on sophisticated issues affecting public entities. Having worked for judges at both the trial and appellate levels, I look forward to bringing that perspective to my work and helping clients navigate complex litigation and public law matters.”
Prior to joining RPLG, KC served as a chambers law clerk to Associate Justice Martin Jenkins at the Supreme Court of California. In that role, he drafted opinion recommendations and briefed the court on complex statutory, constitutional, civil and criminal matters. KC also served as a legal research attorney in the law and motion department of the Superior Court of California, County of San Francisco, where he drafted more than 100 judicial orders on dispositive motions, preliminary injunctions and discovery disputes.
Before his clerkships, KC developed a strong foundation in government litigation, housing policy and public interest advocacy. As a David B. Bryson Memorial fellow at the National Housing Law Project, he authored amicus curiae briefs in federal court and edited national practice guides on affordable housing litigation. He also served as a law clerk in the California Department of Justice’s Government Law Section, drafting dispositive motions and analyzing constitutional challenges. Earlier in his career, KC advocated for vulnerable clients in eviction and benefits matters through Stanford Law School’s Community Law Clinic and the Inner City Law Center, and coordinated national legal policy convenings for the American Constitution Society.
At RPLG, we have found that judicial clerks bring tremendous experience and judgment to the complex issues presented in government law practice. As a fellow Stanford and California Supreme Court alum, I am over the moon that KC agreed to join us.
In addition to his legal practice, KC maintains a strong commitment to civic leadership. He currently serves as a mayor-appointed commissioner on the San Francisco Residential Rent Stabilization and Arbitration Board and as an appointed commissioner on the State Bar of California’s Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation.
KC holds a B.A., magna cum laude, from Brandeis University, earned his J.D. with Pro Bono Distinction from Stanford Law School and is admitted to practice the law in California.
