About
Darrin Tangeman is a consultant at Renne Public Management Group (RPMG), bringing over 10 years of municipal leadership experience and 21 years of military service in strategic planning, executive coaching and municipal management. He is skilled at guiding organizations through complex transformations and developing leaders across all levels of local government.
Prior to joining RPMG, Darrin served as Town Manager for Truro, Massachusetts, where he led transformative initiatives including the town’s transition to its first internally managed Advanced Life Support ambulance service and the development of innovative workforce housing solutions. He previously served as City Manager for Woodland Park, Colorado and Chief Administrative Officer for Pueblo West, Colorado, managing organizations with up to 460 employees and operating budgets as large as $43.7 million.
A retired U.S. Army Special Forces Officer, Darrin was deployed to multiple continents during his military career, including serving as the first Special Forces Commander in support of Operation Observant Compass in Central Africa. Darrin co-founded and directed ICMA’s Veterans Local Government Management Fellowship (VLGMF), a national workforce development initiative, guiding the program from concept to implementation and cultivating a framework for continuous process improvement. Through this work, Darrin has provided executive coaching to hundreds of military veterans who now serve across a broad range of competencies and positions from public works directors to city managers.
Darrin is an ICMA-CM Credentialed Manager and holds advanced degrees in Public Administration, Business Administration and Public Policy Analysis. Additionally, he is a graduate of Harvard University’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program.
