ABOUT
Associate Sarah Goldwasser joined Renne Public Law Group after several years as a federal prosecutor and commercial litigator. Prior to joining the firm, Sarah was an associate attorney in San Francisco at a trial boutique, BraunHagey & Borden LLP. Her practice there largely involved commercial disputes and arbitrations.
Before entering private practice, Sarah served as an assistant U.S. attorney (AUSA) in the Southern District of California through the DOJ Attorney General’s Honors Program. As a criminal AUSA, she prosecuted federal crimes including narcotics importation, fentanyl distribution resulting in death, human smuggling and illegal firearms possession. She made hundreds of federal courts appearances, first-chaired a jury trial and managed complex investigations with federal law enforcement agencies.
Sarah also brings judicial experience from her clerkship with the Honorable Diana Song Quiroga in the Southern District of Texas, and her externship with the Honorable William H. Alsup in the Northern District of California.
Sarah earned her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where she received a Dean’s Fellowship and Pro Bono Honors Award, competed in the McBaine Honors Moot Court and the ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition and co-led the Gun Violence Prevention Project. She earned her B.A. in rhetoric, summa cum laude, from the University of California, Berkeley, graduating as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE
- Prosecuted federal crimes in the Southern District of California, including narcotics importation, fentanyl distribution resulting in death, human smuggling, illegal firearms possession and theft of government property.
- Made hundreds of federal court appearances for arguments and trials.
- Conducted investigations in coordination with federal law enforcement agencies.
- Handled commercial litigation, arbitration and corporate counseling at a boutique trial firm across matters involving financial services, trade secrets, employment, real estate and privacy.
- Drafted substantive criminal and civil orders as a judicial law clerk in the Southern District of Texas and drafted civil orders as judicial extern in the Northern District of California.
- Assisted attorneys representing mass shooting victims as a legal intern at the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence.
