John TruxawSeasoned municipal lawyer John Truxaw joins Renne Public Law Group as Of Counsel bringing 34 years of public and private land use and general municipal law experience to the growing firm. His career includes serving as City Attorney for the cities of Sausalito, Half Moon Bay, Sonoma and St. Helena and as Deputy City Attorney for the cities of Oakland and Walnut Creek. He has also represented private developer clients seeking land use approvals from Bay Area jurisdictions. Truxaw has broad experience in general municipal law, as well as focused experience in land use, CEQA, Subdivision Map Act and domestic and waste water/utilitiy issues.

A former partner at Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps/Steefel Levitt & Weiss, Truxaw began his career as a deputy city attorney for the City of Walnut Creek before moving on to become City Attorney for the City of Sausalito. After a three-year role as a principal for Meyers, Nave, Riback, Silver & Wilson, he returned in house to local government as supervising deputy city attorney for the City of Oakland, where he headed the City Attorney’s redevelopment, land use and rent control team.

Truxaw holds a B.A. in English from the University of California, Berkeley, and a J.D. from the University of California, Davis, School of Law.
