ABOUT
Dan Cederborg is Of Counsel at Renne Public Law Group (RPLG), bringing nearly 40 years of experience in both public and private practice, with a focus on complex litigation and public agency legal counsel. He is skilled at navigating challenging legal matters and providing strategic, solutions-oriented advice to local governments.
Prior to joining RPLG, Dan served as County Counsel for Fresno County, where he advised the Board of Supervisors, County departments and special districts on a range of legal issues including litigation, public contracting, employment, property taxation, government operations and compliance, constitutional issues and more. In this role he oversaw a team of attorneys handling litigation, contracts, juvenile dependency, personnel and general legal advice for the County.
Earlier in his career, Dan practiced in the private sector, where he represented clients in civil litigation, including business disputes, personal injury, securities and antitrust matters. His legal experience includes both trial and appellate advocacy and providing legal advice to clients on a broad array of local government and transactional issues.
Dan earned his J.D. from University of the Pacific and his B.A from Seattle Pacific University.

- Partially successful summary judgment motion upholding qualified immunity in this federal civil rights action for county child protective services worker based on removal of child from parental custody for medical neglect. Reversed on appeal by the United States Ninth Circuit.

- Successful appeal to the California Third District Court of Appeal overturning the trial court’s writ of mandate and establishing the right of the county to collect delinquent garbage fees from non-resident rental property owners under Government Code §§ 25827, 25828.

- Successful appeal to the California Third District Court of Appeal overturning the trial court’s writ of mandate that had directed the District Attorney’s Office to issue a retired peace officer identification with a concealed weapon carry permit.
